Reliable and Convenient Outdoor Smart Plugs
I really like these Kasa outdoor smart plugs. I use them for outdoor lighting, fountains, and other devices, and they’ve been very reliable. Setup and configuration are straightforward, and the Kasa app works great.I especially appreciate the ability to schedule lights based on sunrise and sunset, so you don’t have to constantly adjust settings throughout the year. They’ve handled rain and splashes with no issues so far, and I’m hopeful they’ll last a long time. The plugs right into your outdoor outlet—just make sure it’s GFCI-protected.One tip: consider creating a separate Wi-Fi network for IoT devices for better performance and security. Overall, these are solid-quality plugs and highly recommended for automating outdoor devices.

THIS IS A MUST BUY!!
I bought this plug with the intention of using it in the chicken coop. I use it for a water heater and a radiant heat source. I purchased it based on reviews and the size and connectivity. To my surprise when I recieved the box it had TP- link on it. Apparently I did not scroll far enough down before purchasing it. But that was a good thing, as I love TP-link products as that’s what my wifi router and wifi extender are. I am extremely pleased with this product. It is easy to use, setup, and control from your phone. I was so happy with my original purchase that I bought 2 more. The app is easy to use and is very friendly. I definitely recommend this product! To make sure I was able to connect to my wifi in my chicken coop I ordered the TP-link AC-1200 wifi extender. It is both 5 and 2.4 GHz and works perfectly with the Kasa plugs.A MUST have!!

I realized its not easy to find an outdoor smart plug that has individual control of the outlets! What a headache that was, & lots of searching to find this! Luckily I did & its perfect! I do wish that the cord came in more options as far as length and also that it wasn’t SO thick! But I made it work & am happy with my results. I needed to be able to turn on my outside string lights on my phone vs having to plug/unplug them everytime I went outside. Now I can control all that from my phone & even have it on a schedule which is even better!! (:I did think it said I could use them ‘smart life’ app & was a bit disappointed to see it only showed the ‘kasa’ app on the setup directions (another app to add to my smart home folder in my phone :/ lol). No big deal though, im just happy to of found this, that it has individual control of the outlets and that it seems to work great so far! Every/anything else i can work around. I also like that it has little covers for the plug(s) not in use. Bit flimsy & thin but still work & better than nothing I think considering its outside. Where I have mine- my porch rarely ever gets water that far back so im not worried about it getting wet or anything but I still just like the option & that the covers are there.I definitely recommend. So far its been great, its been about a week almost 2 now. Im very happy with it & it works as expected. Cord is pretty thick & short but aside from that, its great! & it seems to be slim pickings anyways as I mentioned above so considering that as well.. this thing is awesome! Very happy! Very easy to set up & maneuver the app which is a big plus as well!! (:

These plugs are the best. The app is easy to follow and the setup is very straightforward. I have two of these outdoor plugs and have never had any issues. I also use the indoor smart plugs and they work seamlessly with the app and Alexa.

I like the 90° plug. I don’t like that I have to download the KASA app to get it to work with Alexa. I didn’t need another app on my phone but oh well, it’s one less thing to talk to Alexa about.

Update (12/11/23): Found there is a newer version of the single wall plug, which offers energy monitoring capability. The newer model is KP115, released in Oct 2020; whereas the older model is HS103P2, released in March 2018. One of the two white single plugs was DOA (dead on arrival), so I took the opportunity to open it up and inspect the internals. The 2-plug outdoor one worked fine.Initial Problem: The issue with one of them was the relay would click, but plug would not pass power. This occurred with both the physical power switch, and through the app; so the control circuit was ok, but the power circuit was defective.Observations (construction): Like most modern manufactured items, this one is a snap together setup, and once I figured out where the tabs were, disassembly was fairly straight forward (I will not be providing a step by step on how to open them). The construction is decent. The relay is a 200V and 16A version, and should be able to pass full power (1875W for a 15A circuit). However, I would not push the power limit as fire could ensue.Software Setup: After downloading the app (iPhone), setup was straight forward. It appears to only connect to a 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi network; however, with my phone on the 5GHz network, I was still able to control the device. Generally 2.4GHz has better range, and 5GHz has better bandwidth, so 2.4Ghz is the appropriate band for this device (and most IoT devices). Upon completion of setup, the app offered to update the firmware (which completed in less than 5 minutes). Setup was the same for both (the outdoor didn’t need a firmware update).Pros: simple setup; firmware updates.Cons: 1 of 2 DOA.Conclusion: At $13 for two, rating this 3-stars (-2 for the DOA, otherwise this would have been 5-stars). El dispositivo funciona perfectamente. Configurarlo fue fácil y no hay nada como tener el control de los enchufes incluso estando fuera de casa. Ubiqué el dispositivo en el exterior para el encendido de dos guirnaldas de bombillas en mi jardín. Al momento ya ha soportado varios aguaceros y confío que durará el tiempo establecido en la garantía e incluso más, dada la calidad de los materiales, así como las características de mi instalación, que es propia para exteriores.

Ya he comprado previamente algunos productos Kasa, focos solamente y son una excelente opción, en esta ocasión necesitaba un smartplug para exteriores y me decidí por este, realmente creo que es una opción bastante accesible, la calidad de materiales es buena, su construcción se ve robusta, si creo la presunción de que sea para exteriores. Además la configuración fue extremadamente sencilla, no es necesario ningún hub, ya que basta abrir la aplicación y en pocos minutos está listo. Sin lugar a dudas una buena opción para exteriores.
