Smelly –
High Quality – real wood- big and beautiful
High Quality. All real solid wood with the wood grain showing through the stain. NO pressed or fake wood. I ordered the grey color. It is a dark rich grey. It ONLY came with the three middle pieces that were supposed to be screwed into the wall with 12 screws. I ADDED the top and bottom wood shelves which I made out of 1×4 pine wood, regular finish – not rough sawn.I also ADDED the 9 key hooks to the bottom shelf, and the 5 decorative black shelf brackets – three brackets on the bottom and two on the top. I used the shelf brackets to attach the unit to the wall (not the 12 screw holes). To fill in the 12 screw holes: I used the left over tiny black finishing screws from the bag of small key hooks that I bought from Amazon with a dab of Elmers glue to secure the tiny screws in the holes. I bought the 5 black shelving brackets from Amazon too.The bottom shelf that I made is 40″ long and the top shelf is 38″ long. The store you buy the wood from should cut it to size for you. The three Pannels that came in the kit combined are: 34.5 long x 15.5 tall. It came with a box of colored chalk too. For size reference: there is a business card on the cork board, and a full sized flashlight on the shelf.This unit is special because I could not find a big unit with large cork and chalk boards – like this one – with full length shelves. So, buying this large unit and simply adding the shelves was a very cheap and easy way to make it. The result was a large, beautiful, and very functional organizer. See VIDEO and photos.To paint the shelves: I used grey and black paint combine so I could control to get an almost black paint. Then, watered it down 1/4 paint 3/4 water and wiped it on with a no lint t-shirt type rag. (It will not work with a brush) Then, wiped it back off real quick to reveal the wood grain. I did a second coat to get the color dark enough to match perfectly. This entire process of adding shelves and brackets only took a couple of hours, was easy and worth it.
