Good little kettle
My old electric kettle stopped working after a good 5 years of daily use for teas and pour-over coffee. I love the idea of a bright copper kettle whistling away on the fire, but I am too easily distracted not to use an electric water kettle with automatic shut-off instead (I can’t even count the number of pots and kettles I’ve burned irreparably). I wanted an exact replacement of my HadinEeon glass kettle, but couldn’t find one, so I chose this Bella instead. I’m familiar with their beautiful ceramic kettles which are out of my price range, but choosing a used borosilicate one with free shipping brought the price down to just $15. So I stopped shopping and put it in my cart. It arrived within 3 days!I love the blue light that glows up from the black base through the water, it’s mesmerizing. And boiling water in a glass vessel reminds me of that scene in Blade Runner when Priss pulls out the boiling eggs from the glass pot. Good times. But I digress. The lid is secured with a pinch-to-open mechanism on top, so you either need to use both hands, pinch open the lid with one hand while the pot is resting on a stable surface, or have strong ring and pinky fingers to hold the handle while your first and middle fingers pinch open the lid. I wish it was one-hand friendly like my old kettle, with the thumb lever above the handle, but the Bella lid will stay open at 90 degrees without needing to hold it with your thumb, so I guess it’s a trade-off. You also have to tug it a bit to get it in that position, but, no-biggie. Actually, I suspect that’s the reason it was returned; when you open the lid, it resists at about 45 degrees, like that’s as wide as it goes. Plus, it won’t remain open, so it’s awkward trying to fill the pot under the faucet (not to mention cleaning it). I was disappointed, but figured, oh well, $15, right? On the second day of use I thought, nooo, that just couldn’t be how it was designed – maybe it was stuck or something – so I pulled the lid a little harder, and voilà! 90 degrees and it stays put! My biggest complaint was solved!The Bella also doesn’t have a “keep warm” feature, a notification beep, or a temperature control panel like my old kettle, but, honestly, I never once used the thermostat on that one, so it’s not worth the cost for me. This one has a large toggle switch with an audible “click” sound that’s loud enough to hear in a quiet apartment, and in a few minutes your water is boiled and the heating element is safely and automatically toggled off again. Aah, simplicity and peace of mind.The only feature I truly dislike is the plastic strainer attached to the underside of the lid where the water pours out. I guess it’s for loose tea leaves? I honestly don’t know. Why would anyone want a plastic filter for their boiling water? See, that’s when a thumb lift lid would come in handy too. But I think I can yank it out though. Another tiny complaint is the width of the handle compared to my old kettle; but, then again, I have small hands, so it won’t trouble most people and I’ll grow accustomed to it. But if you have weak wrists, it miiiight be a problem with the added weight of 1.7 liters of water.So, all in all, it does the job it’s designed to do, looks lovely doing it, and is very reasonably priced (even new). If you’ve never used an electric kettle, now’s your chance to try one out. Keep your stove burners free and give yourself perfect peace of mind.

BEST Electric Kettle on the market
I ordered this because the one I had previously finally died after 9 years of faithful service 😞 9 long years that Bella kettle was there, through thick and thin. I never thought the day would come. So here we are.The only difference is the color. Mine was a light green this new one is black. The light is still blue but I could have got a different one. I expect many many years of faithful service from this one.The reason I ordered Bella again was for all the obvious reasons. Boils the water very fast. The kettle is very light and easy to clean and it has a very clean look to it. Never leaks.I have to say tho, not the most durable tho, if I learned anything from the first one. You gotta be very gentle with it or it may stop working.

Good Straight Forward Hot Water Pot – With one little idiosyncrasy
Update 2: A short time after I had problems with the pot shutting off, I discovered the cause. On this unit, if the lid is NOT COMPLETELY DOWN AND LOCKED IN PLACE then it will fail to turn off. So if you fill the pot and just slap the lid down, it may or may not fully lock in place. Then it will intermittently not turn off. If you make a point to just push the lid fully down into the locked position it turns off by itself EVERY time. Since I discovered this idiosyncrasy, I have had several months of flawless operation. I raised my review back to 4 stars.—————-Update: Shortly after writing the review below, the pot now intermittently fails to shut off. This is a fire hazard. Another cheaply bought product that fails just after the 30 day mark.—————-I had this pot for about a month and it is great. I purchased it to replace an older pot that stopped working after about 5 years. This pot gets used between 5 and 15 times a day in our home to heat water for tea and French press coffee. It is simple and fool proof.This heats water relatively quickly. I can clearly see how much water is in it and the markings on the glass. The opening is big enough for my hand so it’s easy to clean. It turns off when it should. The blue LEDs are a nice touch, and it’s a great indication of when it’s heating and when it’s not. It is simple to turn off with a flick of the single button or by simply lifting the pot about an inch.Yes you need to wash it when it arrives and boil a few pots of water to get rid of any plastic flavor from the lid. Once this is done this hot water pot is the best one I’ve had in at least the last 10 years. And at this price it’s an awesome value.

I bought this kettle about a month ago. Love the kettle, boils water quicklyand shuts off. Had a Salton for 12 years with no problems until it stoppedshutting off on its own, after 12 yrs expected. With my Saltonthe lid lifted up straight so was easy to clean and fill. This kettle I have to holdlid up to fill and harder to reach in to clean. I would still buy again.Also thank you Amazon for great delivery .This is a new review for Bella Kettle,Now I’ve had this kettle for approx 2.5 monthsand this morning it kept boiling and boiling, noautomatic shut off, I am very disappointed as Iliked the kettle now I have to make sure I watchit so to turn it off manually. Had it to long to return.This should not happen to a newer kettle as I’m verycareful with my appliances.🙁I want reviewers to know my Bella kettle is shuttingoff on its own. I am sorry about second review, the problemwas myself 😊 I didn’t have the lid firmly closed. Working fineand I love it !!

Couldn’t use the kettle at all because it wasn’t wired for the UK market. Made in china so goodness know which market it was made for. Had to send it back for refund. This process is midway so hopefully no problems with this when the time comes. Amazon surely could have made this potential problem known at point of sale.
