Great Alternative to a Garbage Disposal—Easy to Use and Perfect for Rural Living
Living in a rural area on a septic system means no garbage disposal, which I really missed. It’s such a helpful way to cut down on food waste and keep the trash from getting smelly. The FoodCycler ECO3 has been a fantastic replacement—and even better, it gives me a byproduct I can use in my garden. The machine breaks down and dehydrates food scraps into what’s almost compost. I say almost because it’s not fully composted yet. The output is dry and fine, but it needs to be mixed with soil or compost to finish the process. Still, it’s a great head start for anyone with a garden. Here’s what I like:• Simple to use: I keep the bucket on the counter and toss scraps in throughout the day. At night, I pop it in the unit, hit one button, and let it run while we sleep. Couldn’t be easier.• Low odor: The carbon filters really work. No noticeable smells during the cycle, and even the countertop bucket with its slightly loose lid hasn’t been an issue.• Noticeable waste reduction: What goes in is significantly reduced in volume, and it feels great not filling up our trash can with soggy scraps.• Quiet enough: When it’s grinding, it sounds a bit like a dishwasher. Not silent, but not disruptive either. If that’s a concern, it could easily be run in a laundry room, pantry, or garage.A few tips:• Be mindful of what you put in. Too many carb-heavy items like bread will run fine, but the end material won’t be ideal for compost. A good balance makes for better output.• If you have a larger family or kids that are producing more food waste, consider the 5L model. We’re a family of four, but with two toddlers, the 3L has been plenty.Overall, this has been a great investment for our home. I’ve already recommended it to family members who are also moving to rural properties with septic systems. It’s easy to use, clean, and genuinely useful—not something I say about every appliance.

Quiet compact waste recycler that actually works
I bought this compact indoor composter to cut down on kitchen trash and odors. The 3.5 liter bucket fits daily scraps well, and the small footprint keeps it on the counter without getting in the way.On a typical day it stays near the prep area, and the removable bucket moves with me as I work. I drop in scraps, hit the one touch button, and the real-time LEDs show progress while it runs. It operates quietly and the carbon filter helps keep smells contained.I was impressed by how many scraps it can handle. Pits, peels, bones, and leftovers all get ground down into something that resembles plant food, and it uses surprisingly little power for the job.One small caveat is that the 3.5 liter bucket fills up with a busy week, so I empty it regularly. The carbon filter also needs occasional attention to keep odors at bay. Aside from that, setup and use are straightforward, and it feels like a reliable, low effort addition to my kitchen. Overall, it has been a five-star addition to my kitchen.

Great product for dried compost
Perfect for my needs, I juice regularly and it turns everything into powder so I can reuse as plant fertilizer. The machine is so quiet too. So far so good! No smell yet, pretty sturdy too. Piece of cake to work, 7 hours to compose but that’s fine with me. Looks great and compact.

Good product lousy directions
It works well however whomever wrote the directions on how to use missed the mark. Navigating their website for help and support is difficult. It did not come with the prefilled carbon cartridge as stated in the packing list but did hence a refill bag.

It’s clean, it’s quiet, it’s cute, and it works better than I’d hoped.
We live in an apartment in Manhattan and have recently been strong-armed into composting. Unfortunately, the city’s infrastructure isn’t quite ready for the new laws…collection is only once a week and there’s a woefully short supply of bins. As I went out into the rain to our building’s bin with a dripping, gloopy bucket of compost that included a now-useless, half-dissolved compost bag and encountered a bin that was already overflowing with rancid food, I decided I was going to play the game differently. We have two adults and a kid and prepare fresh meals everyday. The Eco 3 has been perfect for us so far. The cannister is attractive enough to sit on the counter until it’s ready to be processed. Its capacity is about two (normal) days’ worth of scraps, it runs quietly enough that we can’t hear it from the next room, and the magic of opening it up after it has run is still a delight. It really does process everything we’ve thrown at it perfectly. A full (broken down) chicken carcass was no issue. Avocado and Mango pits were dust the next morning. Rotten/wilted salad greens we’d found in the back of our produce drawer didn’t create a rotten smell after they were processed. It’s amazing. Some items to know before you buy:1) It uses energy. If your goal is the greenest possible solution and you aren’t hooked up to green power, keep this in mind. It bothers me a bit, but since it uses about as much energy as a ceiling fan running all day I’ve decided to ensure those stay off to offset our footprint a bit.2) It emits humidity. Seems obvious enough, since that’s the main way it’s able to reduce the volume of scraps but we keep ours in a closet and have found we need to crack the closet door when we run it to avoid condensation on the closet walls.3) The size is appropriately small. I wouldn’t want anything bigger because I love the small footprint, but bear in mind that there are sometimes “big days” when it can’t handle everything. We’re part of a CSA and some of the veggies come with all their trimmings. If we get a watermelon and go through it, that’s a lot of material. When we have a dinner party with more than 6 or 7 people, food scraps can add up. When this happens, we’ve been able to deal with it by running it twice in a row, but I can imagine needing to compost some overflow the old-fashioned way after an especially large event. We’re very happy with the purchase and would absolutely purchase again.

Food Cycler Eco 3
Great product I love how it reduces the waste into compost for my garden. It is so easy to use and the quality of the food cycler is exceptional I use it on average every other day. I thought it was expensive when I purchased it but I have realize it is well worth it.

Great food recycler. I have used it twice with peels, egg shells and produce waste. Bucket filled to the max line results in barely a quarter cup of compost. I plan to use the end product to amend the soil for my herb garden. The machine is quiet. Took about 3 1/3 hours to do its thing. It is solid and so far functions as expected and would recommend.

I adore my Food Cycler! It can handle anything I throw at it (including avocado and peach pits!), is whisper quiet, and reduces our waste by 90% or more. Our community does not have curbside green pickup, so our only option for small bones and bits of meat was to send them to the landfill. With the Food Cycler, we can process those items and add them to our own compost bins without attracting vermin or causing a bad smell. Not all food composters (or pre-composters, more accurately) are equal. Most of the inexpensive ones don’t have the tough blades the Food Cycler has, and are much louder.I’m recommending this to everyone I know!

Parfait!! Jusqu’à présent tout va bien. Il ne prend pas trop de place sur le comptoir. Et tout mon compost finit en poudre. J’adore 😁
